close with bustle and brightness No city in the Union has so many visitors and excursionists excur-sionists at this season of the year Tho weary citizen generally flees to the seashore sea-shore or mountain but here in this valley high and cool there is no need of running off Everyday carriages innumerable roll through our broad streets filled with surprised sur-prised and admiring strangers and the city especially BOW with its wilderness of flowers avenues of grand old trees its heights to the north and the rich valley stretching miles to the south of us is a eight once sean oan never be forgotten The most brilliant and interesting function func-tion of the week was Colonel aud Mrs T G Webbers silver wedding which they celebrated their luxurious mansion on Second street on Wednesday It is a magnificent mag-nificent site commanding as it does a panorama of the fertile valley the River Jordan and the Great Salt Lake the dead I sea of America as well as the complete C chain of snowcapped mountains At 930 the guests assembled in tho din ingroom The table was elegantly decorated deco-rated in white and green being outlined with smylax and at intervals were cut glass bowls tilled with white roses carnations carna-tions and white lilacs in the center a large wedding cake in white and silver A I each place was a card embossed in silver announcing to everyones surprise the silver wedding of the host and hostess The favors were dainty silver spoons for the ladies and white rose boutonniers for the gentlemen Covers were laid for i twentyfive and the following menu was served a la Russe Bouillon Served with Breadsticks Fish Chops Cream Potatoes Mushroom Patee Sweetbreads Chichen CroquettsGreen Green Peas in Pastry Baskets Olives Salted Almonds Punch in Lemon Rinds Tomato Salad Cheese Straws Tutti Fruttl Cream CreamChocolate Chocolate and Orange Cake Raspberries Macaroons Coffee Champagne After a delightful evening the guests departed de-parted at a late hour with congratulation and best wishes for the host and hostess The highfive given on Thursday by Mrs C Harper J Dininny was very unique and a most successful entertainment The black eyed Susan was the distinctive feature and made a splendid effect The mantel fir place and every available point was decke with the bright flower ropes of them festooning the arches win their black es peeping out upon the merry group as they tried their luck at cards Little Miss Constance Con-stance looking Hue a fairy in her while attire received the guests at the door Ten games were played resulting in the first prize a bottle of perfume beln wen by Mrs J F Evans second an oxidized silver paper cutter by Mrs Dr Maclean third a tortoiseshell hairpin Mrs James A Lowe and fourth silver tablet by Miss Nellie amount subscription tickets have been sold to furnish funds for preparation prepar-ation These tickets entitle the holders to entrance and use of the dancing floor for a gentleman and two ladies or a
