Show FOB EMBEZZLEMENT ElBEZZLEMJNT FRED TITUH A CLERIC ARRESTED CLERli HERE YESTERDAY The Prisoner Will Be Taken Back to Missouri Mrtj Bleak flukes Answer An-swer to Her HuNlmmlM iJitmt Fred Titur for the past three weeks an employee of Auerbach Bros was arrested yesterday morning by Detec ive E A Franks on the charge of embezzlement said to have been committed com-mitted while he was in the employ of the AdlerToldman Commission corn pany which has houses at Maiden and Kennett Missouri The young man wa given into the custody of Sheriff McQueen and will be held at the county jai until the arrival ofa Missouri officer of-ficer will the necessary requisition papers Nearly two months ago the detective received instructions to be on the lookout look-out for Titur and arrest him if found Sheriff McQueen also received a telegraphic tele-graphic warrant of arrest from City Marshal Bledso of Maiden and since that time the officials have been on the watch for the young man The particulars of the affair as furnished by the documents received in this city were as follows Titur and a friend named Charles F Baumblatt were in the employ of the Missouri company named and often were given control I ofen of considerable sums of money with which to purchase furs Several I months ago both disappeared from the tate and at the same time between I 3000 and 4000 of the companys money also disappeared The young men came to Utah and from here Baumblatt very recently departed for Texas while Titur secured employment Their whereabouts have just been discovered covered and as a result Titur is in custody and his alleged partner in crime i whirling along on his journey to the Lone Star state When interviewed yesterday afternoon after-noon Titur claimed to have no knowledge knowl-edge of the crime with which he is charged and declares that he can easily clear himself upon his return to Missouri souri He is not now so sure of Baum I blatt however and seems half inclined in-clined to believe that his present trouble is due to his former companion Later Last night Sheriff McQueen I received a dispatch from Marshal Bledso instructing him to release Titur A letter containing lull particulars is following The young man was at once released mistake It was evidently a gigantic |
