June 23During the two bours of business today the prevailing I tone of the stock market was weak A brisk selling movement was developed de-veloped at the opening which was most pronounced in St Paul Sugar Atchison Atchi-son and Missouri Pacific Baltimore Ohio on the sale of a hundred share lot broke 21 per cent and recovered 3 on the purchase of 100 shares these being the only transactions in the stock When the pressure to sell was removed Sugar and a few other shares 4 made a fractional recovery A raid was made on Sugar which had recovered a portion of the early decline and the price went down to 9794 recovered I and then came another break of 11s with a final recovery of 94 the last sale being at a figure js below yesterdays I yester-days closing Before 1 oclock there was a fractional decline in which t nearly all the shares traded in participated par-ticipated while Manhattan dropped j 13s Louisville Nashville preferred 24 During the first half of the next I hour speculation was weak but the declines de-clines were all fractional < In the final dealings Sugar rallied UHghtly and Louisville New Albany ained 1 of its early loss There was a slight rally in prices in the last dealings and the market closed steady to firm at a very general decline de-cline on the final sales of yesterday the total loss except where already note being confined to fractions with the exception of Kansas Texas preferred pre-ferred and U S Cordage which are down 1 and 1 per cent respectively The bond market was generally weak all day on fairly good business for a Saturday Money on call easy 1
