Show CHRISTMAS IT TOOELE Christmas Day at Tooele dawned clear and bright but no snow nor sledges with the bells so the day passed but quietly Our usual merry holiday was somewhat saddened by the sudden death of one of our prominent citizens Alexander Herron Esq who died in Salt Lake city where he was taken for medical assistance which however proved unavailing for about twentyfour hours after his arrival he breathed his last a moment after requesting ills devoted wife to raise his head The remains re-mains were brought to Tooele this morning and were met at the depot by the brass band and long line of carriages containing relatives and friends citizens thronged in the street near the home of Judge Herron evincing the estimation in which he was held and the place he occupied in the hearts of those who knew him best The community deeply sympathizes with the bereaved wife and children Among the many who have been attracted hither to this delightful genial atmosphere to piss the holidays aro Emil Isgreen teacher in i the B Y academy R R Lyman Amasa Clay ton William Lee the latter < rom Montpelier Mont-pelier Idaho and a host of others besides THE CHIUSTMAS HERALD with its bright attractive pages glowing with progression which we do not forget to class among the most welcome arrivals ar-rivals The Tooelo county Teachers institute which was organized last October will meet at GrantsvilleSaturday afternoon and evening January 24 1811 Wo have seen the program prepared for that occasion and note the following follow-ing among other things such as mule singing etc A lecture on School Discipline by Principal Princi-pal A J Stookey Essay by Andrew Rasmussen Primary geography class conducted by John A Hunt The programme for the evening session consists con-sists of a tOng by members of the institute LA paper on Moral training in the School by Miss Sarah Gee opening discussion by Rev G T Wetzel Duet by the Misses Milward Lecture The Teachers Work by D T Hedges opening discussion by Superintendent Robinson Tie There is general satisfaction not to say re joicing over the news that the postofilce is to be removed to more convenient quarters on Main street Mr D T Hedges is appointed postmaster post-master RDIH Tooelo City Utah December 25 1S90 |
