Show I SHERMAN HAS A BEE A Plan to Run Him For Governor Gover-nor of Ohio AND FOR PRESIDENCY IN 1892 Barkis and Blaine are WillincMcKInley Will be Retired to the Seclusion His Merits as a Statesman Demand Special to THE HERALD Examiner Dispatch CoLUMnus Dec SOA twocolumn article ar-ticle in the Evcnilf Press gives the outline out-line of the result of a consultation between the friends of Senator Sherman and James G Blaino held here last week The Press I claims to have the matter it presents from sources which make it authentic Among other Republicans of note in Columbus last week when the scheme was arranged were Stewart L Woodford of New York and General James A Hale of Maine The plan soems to have originated with Republicans who wish to see their party enter the race of 1S93 with hope of success who regard President Harrison as out of the question and now think the result of the late election was a repudiation by the people of what McKinley impersonated They fear that tho old charges aganst Blame would defeat him again and think the financial issue will play so great a part in the campaign that a financier of known ability must need be selected for a candidate candi-date They think they have found such a person in Senator John Sherman Mr Blaine has been consulted and indeed is said to be one of the authors of the scheme McKinley is to be thrown overboard at once and Sherman be nominated for governor gov-ernor With the prominence in Ohio affairs this would give him and the working work-ing representation that tho inventors of the scheme will be able to give it by that time it is i hoped to present Mr Sherman as a candidate for the presidential nomination in 1S92 |
