Show A Dinner to W J Hyncs CAICAGO Sept 20At the Palmer house tonight a complimentary dinner was given to W J Hynes a wellknown Chicago lawyer who for d long time has taken a conspicuous parfr in Irish affairs in thia country and who has just returned from a visit to Ireland Thin dinner was given by M E Stone W K Sullivan John R Walsh Judges Prendergast and Moran and a number of other friends of Hynes over ono hundred in all In the course of an after dinner speech Hynes gave a review of his observations in Ireland and said he met no men of national na-tional sentiments in Ireland who had not implicit faith in Parnell and confidence in the ultimate success of his movement to r secure home rule Hynes said that up to the advent of ParnelPs movement he had believed in the efficacy only of organized or-ganized force honorably employed for the attainment of Irelands autonomy but since the inauguration of Parnells policy that had his undivided support No1 ono he said who had made a personal visit to Ireland and had seen the condition of the people could regard the absent land lord as anything but a bird of prey Speaking the failure of the potato crop he said that from personal observation knew there was no exaggeration in tboTe z port and that absolute starvation followed a failure of the crop conclusion Hynes spoke of the uniform courtesy and consideration consid-eration with which he had been received by the members of parliament and those prominent prom-inent in Irish circles |
