Show Suit Against the Anaconda Standard BCTTE Mont Sept 29Special telegram tele-gram to THE HERALDIn the district court today A J Seligman late chairman of the Republican state central committee brought suit against the Anaconda Standard asking 100000 damages for libel The article upon which the suit is based appeared in the issue of the 13th and read as follows We take it that Mr Selig mans business career in Montana is too dishonest too disreputable and too unsavory so that he can make i his insulting adjectives stick t the I gentleman They never yet were in a position where their reputation needed the shelter he has been obliged t seek and this is the language of the man who in his time tried to rob the Montana miners of their honest wages and who would have been hanged at a ropes end as a common thief if he had not settled as he was forced to do This attack appeared the day after the Republican convention and was actuated by a speech made by Mr Scligman before that bod in body which he denounced very severely se-verely the methods of the Montana Democrats Demo-crats during the last campaign |
