Show City Council City council met Mayor Turner in the c chair No reports were read Petitions were taken up M A Luckenbach was before the council and stated that he was the party to whom a franchise to lay pipes for natural gas had been granted that his colleague col-league had failed and was unable to comply with the terms thereof He was again ready to drill for gas to the depth of 3000 feet if necessary He wanted to know if his franchise was still in force If BO he i would go to work in at least sixty days He would report an accurate record of the strata passed through with the recorder Mr Luckenbach believed gas petroleum und coal existed north south and west of Ogden but not cast He would not lay pipes until natural gas was found Referred Re-ferred to committee on streets Jacob Kertz was granted a pawn shop license li-cense An ordinance creating Sewer District No 4 Twentyfifth street from Quincy avenue and Adams and Monroe between Twentyfourth and Twentyfifth streets was presented The sidewalk ordinance was entered read and passed It provides that property owners must clear the walks within twentyfour hours after the cessation of a storm or be subject to a fine of at least 10 After the disposal of miscellaneous business busi-ness the council adjourned |
