Show THEIR FIRST OPENING bat of Walker Ems and Fyler Co in Their New Store Rooms Last Night AtG30 oclock last evening the magnificent cent new store room of Walker Bros ana Fyler company corner of Main and Third South streets was thrown open to the public the occasion of their first grand opening in their new house From that time until 1 oclock there was a mass of people surging through the great room while the sidewalk in front and side wero I packed as the crowd gazed upon the beautifully beauti-fully furnished and decorated show windows win-dows Tl e Denlmlter Rifle band of twenty pieces was present and gave a promenade concert nine numbers being rendered A description of the magnificent storeroom store-room has been given in TIE HERALD so it will suffice to say that no handsomer or more elegantly appointed dry goods house call be found west of Chicago than theirs Last night under the brilliant illumination of arc and incandescent lights with the immense throng of people constantly passing pass-ing through with ihc handsome fittings and furnishings and the beautiful display of goods on counter shelves and rack it was a kaleidoscopic picture beautiful in the extreme The large show windows on the Third South and Main street sides Of the building were gorgeous in their trimming Indeed one could not see more elegantly trimmed windows in any city of the country The display of shoes in one window tbe trimming trim-ming being the work of Mr Frank Draper was exceedingly handsome the show piece being There was an old woman who lived in a shoe The show of gents furnishing gOOds seen in another window the work ofT of-T B W Pearson was exceptional fine and showed remarkably good taste in arrangement A lifesize figure of Buf shown alo Bill stood guard over the articles The other window on First South was a marvel of beauty The church pipe organ I made of silks velvets spool cotton brass work draperies flowers and fans It was a work of art and reflected great credit on the designer Mr J H Beifuss who also executed i as also all the other windows on > the Main street side Then came the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet the balcony being made of handkerchiefs I while reposing near by in an elegant cradle cascaded with laces was the sleeping baby Next was shown a beautiful fountain made of laces and then came a model of the groat Brooklyn bridge mado oi spool cotton laces tincel and fringes while the last window snowed a stairway of carpets draperies and China silks The windows were the admiration of all and Mr Beifuss received many warm congratulations on his work The Walker Bros Fyler Co are to be congratulated as also the manager Mr Fyler for giving the citizens of Salt Lake and Utah such a magnificent establishment establish-ment the equal of which it would be dif cult to find anywhere n |
