the ice by saying that he was not present at the last meeting and that it appeared to him like a put up jobl This raised Tan Bus Kirk who jumped on Waterman with both feet and backed the up labors of the committee com-mittee in a speech that had bristles on it It is my business ho said to attend all the meetings of the exchange or shut up I upWilliam Fuller set another storm brew ing by saying that the report struck him as rejecting on the old board and suggested that while they had such men as Conklinir Hardy and Lynch it was not exactly the I right thing to pick up the newcomers to the I exclusion of the old citizens I Mr Lett said he would like very much to I have other nominations and that he neither sought the nomination nor had he desire or purpose in it ana would ho very grateful to have any other person elected gratfulj I Mr Brown explained how the committee I had raked and scraped the city for a suitable suit-able person and after canvassing the merits of all the real estate men had found that Mr Lett was the unanimous choice He paid a glowing tribute t the nominee which was greeted with much applause 11 Barrett said that the committee had done it utmost to secure the best men for I the places but that there Wero not offices l i enough firms t give a place t all tho deserving i Mr Jack became so indignant over the squabble that he moved to lay his own report re-port on the table but failed t got a second Mr Coupling was nominated by Mr Ful ler but declined the distinguished honor after which Mr Lett was unanimously elected He was called for a speech and responded a follows PRESIDENT LETTS SPEECH Gentlemen of the Sal Lake Real Instate Exchange Ex-change I thank you for this expression of your confi dence I am aware this organization is made up of the inclination inclina-tion to accept the honors and declined after which VanBuskirk was unanimously elected t VicePresident Buskirk being called on for a speech opened up with these trenchant trench-ant words 1 came here and brought my credentials with me I will pledge you this I will try to bring no reproach on this organization Judge Lynch vas elected treasurer without with-out opposition and when asked for aspeech in a jocular vein simply said I will try to be honest The rest of the nominations were adopted with a rush During the discussion Mr Miller made D personal allusion to Mr Puller that was full of the explosive material but he yielded gracefully to allow everything to go and everybody to have full swing Mr McAllister poured oil on the troubled waters by saying Im an oldtimer I wish to say that if it wasnt for the newcomers I I new-comers we would be wherewowere twenty years ago The matter of securing a room for the meetings of the exchange was left to the executive committee There was just enough opposition to the report of the committee to guarantee that no omnibus measures rushed through the exchange The officers elected will greatly strengthen the exchange in the favor
