THE RIGHT of the city to take streams of water originally brought from the canons at the expense of the people of a certain section of the city and used by them for thirty years each year with an expenditure of considerable money and labor to put this water in pipes at the expense of these people peo-ple overcharge them for the work lay the mains whether or not the people want them and then fine the people from 5 to 30 ayear for using the waterthis alleged right is about to be tested in the courts The Tenth ward people hold that after tbey have for twenty years paid for the water mains of the centre of the city they ought not now be compelled to pay and to more than pay for laying the mains in their section Those interested will on Wednesday night at the Tenth ward meeting house decide what ought to be done in this important matter A principle prin-ciple is at stake and also a largo amount of tax money If the objectors shall win the case there will be no special watermain taxes in the future The case concerns all those that may have the mains laid past their property in the future as well as those whose taxes are nov due
