Judge Beatty Gets His Commission YASHIXGTOX D C March 9Special telegram to THE HERALD James H Beatty returned to Idaho this morning with his commission in his pocket Before leaving he took the oath of office which was administered to him by Justice Stephen J J Field of the United States supreme court He feels that the unanimous report in his favor from the judiciary committee a well as the action of the President in reappointing re-appointing him after the Senate had failed t confirm him is the best possible refutation refuta-tion which could be made of the charges against him Senator Claggett is still in the city He will probably retrain until May 1 He has been suffering recently from a heavy cold but he is as full of fight as ever while his confidence in his ultimate success grows stronger daily It is his intention to search the records of the congressional library brary for precedents bearing upon his case He will use this data in the preparation of his brief He is accompanied by his daughter and his niece two bright clever young girls who are assisting him materi ally in the prosecution of his work I told him that Dubois had abandoned his European Euro-pean trip in view of the contest which he Claggett was making A significant smile passed over Claggetts lace as ho replied re-plied grimly Ill make him give up more than that before Im through with him
