Show Sioux Indians and Easter Schools WASHINGTON Jan 7The Sioux chiefs who are visiting the east appeared before the House committee on Indian affairs today to-day John Grass who was chief spokas man made an earnest onslaught upon the practice of sending Indians to eastern schools Too few of the Indians could be sent to schools in the east to have any beneficial effort upon the general masses of the Indians when they return to the resonations res-onations after finishing their education in the east More Indians should be sent to reservation schsols and these schools should be improved He was asked if the Sioux were ready to accept land in severally sever-ally and he replied that they were not and it would be about fifteen years before before they would be ready |
