Show A Big I Tieup I BOSTON January 10A general tie upon up-on the Consolidated Horse Railroad occurred oc-curred this morning pursuant to the action ac-tion of the meeting of employees which adjourned at 330 oclock this morning The roads comprise the Middlesex and Highland lines connecting Walden Everett Charlestown and Somerville with Boston and the Boston Highland district employees including conductors con-ductors drivers hostlers horsesho feeders and tow oys are participating The exact grievances of the men are not known but the trouble is believed to be caused by the failure of President Powers tokeep his part of the agreement agree-ment recently made with the menThe men-The Charleston car was started from Charleston Neck this morning Several Shawmut Avenue care have passed over the line since thatmannedby nonunion non-union drivers and conductors who are protected by from four to six policemen Son each car There has been no disturbance dis-turbance thus far reported and it is not expected that there will be any At noon quite a number of cars were running on Shawmut Avenue and Charlestown lines These were all policed and met with no more violent demonstration than hoots and yells Employees of the Metropolitan Horse Railway Company helda meeting this morning and voted 5000 to assist the strikers A meeting of employees of the South Boston road was attended by the same result and 10000 is thus subscribed sub-scribed |
