Show i r 1 r t P John 1Loach i Dead NEW YJDBK January iO John 1 Roach the great shipbuilder died at 8 oclock Sis mornfugT The cancerous growth had eaten its way into the side of his neck below the ngle of the jaw inyolv Ito J i ig a large artery which became liable to rupture at any moment Roach was in great pain all day yesterday andto give him relief Jarge doses morphine were injected land he was unconscious most of the time In the few conscious moments he had spoken to his son Garrett woo was with him all the time The young man remained with his father during the night He occupied a seat at the bedside and helped the nurses who applied soothing poultice and renewed injections of morphine every time the patient awakened Only tt few intimate friends of the family were admitted to the house yesterday but nobody other than the nurses and I physicians was allowed to see Roach The deceased leaves a widow three I sons and one daughter all growl The family remained with Roach until 10 clock this morning Dr Taylor at 5 oclock this morning detected the approach ap-proach of death and at once informed the family that Roach bad only a few hours to live The dying man sank slowly He lost consciousness about 7 30 his = end was unmarked by a struggle The date of the funeral has notbeen decided upon It will take place from St Pauls Methodist Episcopal Episco-pal church Roach was a member of the church The interment will ne in i the family plot at Greenwood cemetery I |
