Show Sego Lily Chapter Honors Constitution The Sego Lily Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Re-volution held their first meeting meet-ing of the season at the Freeman Free-man Institute in commemoration commemora-tion of National Constitution Week, Sept. 17 through 23. AN EXCELLENT film on the Constitution by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, entitled, enti-tled, "Lets get it Back, America," Amer-ica," was shown depicting the intentions of the Founding Fathers as they return to our day and view what has happened hap-pened in our nation. Many other projects to encourage en-courage our citizens to study the Constitution have been planned by the chairmen, Mrs. Rex Hansen and Mrs. Earl Hess. The chapter participated partici-pated with the state organization organiza-tion in the signing of a proclamation procla-mation by Gov. Scott Mathe-son. Mathe-son. Mayor Elmer W. Barlow of Bountiful was visited and aproclamation signed. THE DAVIS County Commissioners Com-missioners were given a short talk and commended for their stands on Constitutional princ-ples. princ-ples. Posters were made for public buildings, spot announcements were given to radio stations and letters sent to civic groups and leaders, all encouraging the study of the Constitution. Some of the objectives of our society are to aid in developing de-veloping and enlighten public opinion, to foster true patriotism patriot-ism and love of our country and to aid in securing for mankind man-kind all the blessings of liberty. THIS NATION is more endangered en-dangered today by the indifference indiffer-ence of our citizens, than any force outside our nation. We do urgently encourage everyone every-one to read and study the Constitution Con-stitution for only then can we excercise our franchise intelligently. intelli-gently. The next meeting of the chapter will be held at the home of Mrs. Horace Beesley on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. Visitors and prospective members mem-bers are encouraged to attend. |
