Show Scenic Notes I Last evening a few of the new scenes painted by Mr Henry C Tryon were lighted up for the delectation de-lectation of a small circle of friends who were present in the Theatre A snow scene beyond all comparison compar-ison ahead of anything yet placed on the stage was the theme of much favorable comment on account of its artistic naturalness The effect of light and shade on the newly fallen snow and the superb delineation deline-ation of chill winter was nevermore never-more effectually shown no matter what the pains taken or the class of surroundings The sky effect was faultless and showed most exquisite taste in harmony of color and in 1 the delicate handling ot the transparent trans-parent vapors of a wintry atmos phere The whole scene is charming charm-ing and so true to nature that an effort of the will seemed necessary to retain normal temperature We had a slight glimpse of the woods scene now in process of development de-velopment and it indicated grand results on completion AjSlreet scene was also run out to the front and and we do not hesitate Id sy that such a perfect represeutature of buildings has never been seen in this section and never excelled elsewhere The bricks stone and mortar were to the eje as solid and real as the genuine article and amore a-more perfect counterfeit presentment present-ment could not be desired It astonished aston-ished us to find that Mr Tryon who excels in freehand work should display such ability in the hard mechanical effects of architectural painting A prison painted as effectively ef-fectively as was the building in this scene would hold a hardened convict under the impression that was built with solid rock The management are displaying excellent taste and good judgment in securing the artistic talent of Mr Tr3 on who is working wonders in the scenic department of this popular temple of the drama |
