Show The Jersey Lilly In view of the impending descent or ascent of Mrs Langtry the Jersey lily and the lady who has a talented beautyin the Rocky Mountain regions and in view of the many photographs of her which are now displayed some quite beautiful the profiles in particular and others almost if not quite homely the full face views especially in view of the common interest which is felt in in this woman notedfor her talented beauty together with the vast amount which the newspapers contain con-tain regarding her in view of all these things the following extract from the New York Sun is published pub-lished It may explain the homely appearance of the professional beauty in some of her photographs Mrs Langtry is unquestionably avery a-very beautiful woman Her beauty is of the kind that baflles photography photo-graphy and those who have seen I her picture only have no conception of the charm ot her face Her complexion com-plexion is pure white and almost transparent There is on either cheek a dull rich and scarcely distinguishable dis-tinguishable color that softens the contour of the face but otherwise hef skin is as white as snow The ears are as purely white as the forehead fore-head and the eyebrows are beautifully beauti-fully outlined The mouth in repose re-pose has a pathetic or serious expression ex-pression and the lips are as clearly cut as a statues When she smiles perfect teeth are revealed and the cheeks wrinkle up in two deep little dimples The eyes however are the most winning feature fea-ture of all They are grey with little lit-tle jetblack pupils and are shaded by long dark lashes They are wonderfully won-derfully expressive and certainly were very effective for they did remarkable re-markable work yesterday Mrs Langtry raised them slowly and glanced around into the faces of the men about her looking at each one fully The faces had been sleepy perhaps but they woke up As Mrs Langtry talked she looked at the faces about her with an expression of charming frankness frank-ness and often laughed ingenuously ingenu-ously when she was amused Her cordiality was infectious When she smiled every face burst into a broad and sympathetic grin i and when she laughed her musical mu-sical tones were drowned in the subterraneau gurgles of the enthusiastic spectators Her voice is soft agreeable and so clear that it travels far and she is utterly without the broad English accent so tiresome in ROmp of the theatrical theatri-cal people from the mother country Mrs Langtry so thoroughly charmed the circle about her yesterday yester-day thAt when she gracefully withdrew with-drew the men turned to each other and lost themselves inenthusiasm |
