Show Historians Honor Dr. Howard Dr. Gorden M. Howard was honored at the October meeting meet-ing of the Utah Historical Society. The occasion was the annual meeting held in October Oc-tober in Spanish Fork. DR. HOWARD was presented with the Dale L. Morgan Award for the best scholarly article of the year. The award was a special plaque and a check for $100. This article is entitled "Men, Motives and Misunderstanding." Misun-derstanding." It was published in the Utah Historical His-torical Quarterly spring issue volume 44, number two. It gives a new look at the Morrisite war of 1862. A PICTURE taken by Dr. Howard shows a Nauvoo Legion Cannon which was used against the Morrisites in the war of 1862. This picture is used to illustrate his article in the magazine. The cannon is now a part of a Daughters of Utah Pioneer Monument located in Far-mingtion. Far-mingtion. blm |
