Well, not to be outdone, Viewmont has a brother act of their own. BUT THESE brothers don't play for the Vikes, they coach them. With the addition of Dave Cullimore on the coaching staff this year, the Vikes have two Cullimores on their staff. Dave joins older brother Val in the Vike coaching ranks. Their careers have been somewhat similar through the years. They both played high school and college ball at the same schools. In years past Viewmont has had several athletes who were brothers. This year the Vikes have two of their alumni brothers coaching. They are Dave and Val Cullimore (1 to r). VAL GRADUATED from Viewmont in 1969. While a Viking, he participated as a linebacker in football, a guard in basketball and a catcher '.n baseball. Val was behind the plate when the Vikes took the state championship in baseball in his senior year. From Viewmont View-mont Val went to Southern Utah State College. IN THE four years at SUSC, Val participated in freshman basketball and four years of varsity baseball. Val was named all-conference for his catching efforts his final two years. Dave was involved with football his three years at Viewmont and was a member of the state championship team ij? 1971. Following his career as a Viking, Dave also journeyed south and attended SUSC where he participated in football for four years. He was named all-conference at tackle his junior and senior year. THIS IS THE first year in about seven years that a Cullimore hasn't been at Southern Utah State participating par-ticipating in sports, and the Thunderbirds are sorry. This is Dave's first year of teaching and coaching while Val is entering his fourth year at Viewmont as a coach. DAVE IS currently working with the sophomore football team and is expected to help caoch in other sports. Val is with the varsity football and baseball programs. Val is married to the former Becky Herrscher. They are the proud parents of Kasey and Kirby, both 4 years old, and Kohn, who is 2. They are also expecting another soon. IN YEARS past the Viewmont View-mont coaching staff was pleased to have the Cullimores as players, this year the players are pleased to have the Cullimores as coaches. |
