' J -t r-).'i" . v j tresis V "if i r , - . ? it'vr " v a V7X SOCCER In a city the size of Woods Cross, a population of 4200, the 89 boys and one girl involved in-volved in the Soccer program produces an enormous portion por-tion of the population involved in that endeavor. ALSO included are nine men who coach the five teams, who compete in four divisions in the soccer program. Dale Briggs and Dick Bombard Bom-bard are coaches of the Woods Cross I team, ages 7-8 years old, who just became winners of the Northern Division in their age group and competed in Cup Games, held Tuesday evenings at Riverside Park in Salt Lake City. REGIONAL championships for this bracket are scheduled for Nov. 8. Mr. Briggs stated that his team competes with teams from Bountiful, Woods Cross, Salt Lake, in the northern division, and have a very successful season, undefeated at this point. THE 18 members of this team practice twice each week at Woods Cross Park and play one game each week. The division championships will call a close to the successful suc-cessful fall season of soccer in Woods Cross. Doug Hyatt, coach for another team, sees great opportunity for development of those participating in the game. He states that 11 players are on the field at each time, with action and opportunity for every team member (18 in most cases) to play in every game. THIS IS the first year for most of the boys, but the program is growing and many are ready for the spring session, to begin in April. Other coaches involved in the program are Wayne Trenbeath, Gary Howard, Scott Vaughn, Robyn Wood-gate, Wood-gate, Louis Bums, in addition to Mr. Briggs and Mrs. Bombard.
