Show Btfl. City Recreation Dept. Is Working To Serve Your Needs Bountiful City Recreation is concerned about people's physical fitness and recreation recrea-tion habits and is offering several new programs to help people be more creative in filling their leisure time. Many of these activities can be participated in by families, together. ONE OF the upcoming programs is a cross-country ski class which includes a skiing excursion. This ski class is for people interested in learning to cross-country ski and will be taught on Saturdays Sa-turdays at the Bountiful City Golf Course beginning the end of January. Other programs include: 1. THE conditioning class is a four-week class on Tuesday nights which deals with learning about overall fitness. Such topics as the risks of becoming unfit, carrying out your own exercise program, stretching and flexibility will be discussed. Plus everyone in the class will be hydrosta-tically hydrosta-tically weighed to determine their percent body fat. The class will be taught by Moe . Forsyth R.P.T. at the Bountiful Boun-tiful Convalescent Center. ' 2. Behavior Modification will be taught by Arlou Vance. It is a ten-week course taught on Thursday nights in which the class members will analyze their eating habits, change bad habits, learn proper exercise, and work towards losing weight. 3. BIKE RIDING and maintenance will begin in the spring with field trips to the Great Salt Lake and other interesting areas. 4. A Presidents' Day 5,000 meter run will be held in downtown Bountiful on Monday, Mon-day, Feb. 18. It is being sponsored by the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce. Registration is at DeBoer's Running Store, 167 So. Main. 5. A SKATE-a-RAMA for the March of Dimes is being held at the Recreation Center Ice Arena on Jan. 26. Registration Regis-tration and sponsor sheets can be picked up at the Recreation Center. The person per-son bringing in the most money from pledges will win a free bicycle. The cost for skating the 12 hours on the 26th will be only $3. Everyone in the skate-a-rama will be invited back to the rink for a free skate the night of the awards presentations. Other classes on the planning plan-ning board which will be offered of-fered according to demand are: yoga, pregnant women's exercise, jogging for fitness,, outdoor walks, and a winter snow carnival. The Recreation Recrea-tion Center will also be sponsoring spon-soring another physical fitness fit-ness fair in May for people to check on their fitness levels before summer. THESE ARE just some of the center's ideas. Bountiful Recreation would like to hear from the people of Bountiful and get their ideas about the kinds of classes they would like to have offered at the center.
