Show Nationwide Bald Eagle Survey HILL AFB - Military officials of-ficials here will ber working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the nationwide na-tionwide Bald Eagle survey. .-USING A Hill AFB helicopter, a five-member 16am of experts from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, UTah State Division of Wildlife Resources, and Utah State University will observe nearly 500,000 acres of the Utah Test and Training Range west of Great Salt Lake. They w'U observe likely haunts of the Bald Eagle as well as other birds of prey, including falcons and hawks. AREAS TO be surveyed include Lakeside Mountains, Grassy Mountains, Wildcat Range, Newfoundland Mountains, Moun-tains, Granite Mountains, and the Blue Lake Area. Next spring, a survey is planned for the entire two million acres of government-owned government-owned land west of Great Salt Lake, according to Murray Sant, Hill AFB resources biologist, coordinator of the survey. "WE KNOW Bald Eagles frequent the areas surrounding surround-ing the Air Force gunnery and bombing range but are not certain if they frequent the range itself," he said. "The aerial survey should give us a lot of this valuable mlormation." |
