deficit of at the close ot the previous year to explain ciomo of the reasons for tills increase in the earning capacity of tho mine president john dem bays the vital points of any mining proposition are first the value of the ore second the extraction of those values and third the expenses of each of these features we show improvement pro over last years figures the value of ore has gone up 6 cents tho amount lost in the tailings has gone down 5 cents and the expenses have gone down 25 cents thus the yearb results show a total improvement of 36 cents per ton over the preceding twelve months during the year the gross earnings amounted to of which was derived from gold bullion and the mill at manning operating on tailings afforded disbursements bur for this period amounted to abo and cash on hand ab tho close ot the year being general manager george H dern in his report shows that during the year there was reduced tons ot ore or tons monthly of an average value of per ton in addition to this Is the amount of the tailings that were handled at the manning mill brings tho average per ton up to an earning of in speaking of the physical condition of the mine and the amount of ore that is blocked out the manager in conclusion says 1 I wish it were to make a close estimate of the tonnage of ore in sight at the mines but it must ie apparent to any one reading what I 1 have said about the workings in caved ground that this is out ot the question the best I 1 could hope to do would be to hakea guess I 1 said last year ahaz I 1 thought the ore then developed ought to admit of profitable operation for at least two or three years and that there was no reason to doubt that during buan a period many new developments would be made the years results have shown that that estimate was certainly conservative I 1 feel just as confident today that we have at least twice as much ore in sight as we had a year ago MRS greenewald DEAD mrs lena greenewald wife of jack
