Show HEWS of the COUNTY SEAT Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmutz and Mrs. Walter Cannon returned last week from spending several days in Provo, Layton and Salt Lake City. Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz and small son returned with thorn to vish for two weeks. Mrs. J. H. McClanahan of Las Vegas arrived last Thursday to spend two weeks with her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Olds, while recuperating from her recent illness. ill-ness. Mrs. R. F. Mrs. Dean Boyack and small son returned early Monday morning morn-ing from Logan, where Mrs. Boyack Boy-ack has attended summer school, and from visiting in Delta with relatives. -v. :v. 5v. Charles Pickett, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Pickett arrived last mid-week from Salt Lake City to remain for several weeks. M. m. r, -(. -t- Miner Prisbrey accompanied Warren Cox to Los Angeles last week end to confer with Dr. Joseph Walker. Mr. Prisbrey has been in poor health for several months. rv. Attorney Orval Hafen returned last Sunday from a business trip to Salt Lake City. -v. .V. Mrs. Eva Higbee left Tuesday morning for Springville where she will visit for a month with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Palfreyman and family. fam-ily. She was accompanied as far as Cedar City by another daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Melville Hirschi and small son, and her granddaughter,. Jeannene Harris, who will spend the remainder of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Lamond Higbee. M. '' -w Miss Nancy Gerrard of Salt Lake City who has been visiting for two weeks with her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. Lottie R. Carter and aunt, Ellen Carter, will return re-turn home Saturday with her father. Mr. and Mrs. Wilden Tweedie and small son of Las Vegas visited vis-ited relatives in St. George and Hurricane over Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Thomas entertained Monday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Laron S. Andrus of Provo, who are here visiting. After a swim in the local pool, the guests assembled on the lawns of the Thomas home where they enjoyed an outdoor supper. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McMullin, formerly of Leeds, now of Salt Lake City, dropped into the News office this week to subscribe to the News. They spent the fore part of the week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fuller of Leeds. Mrs. Everett Syphus and daughter, daugh-ter, Dean, returned last Friday from a ten-day vacation on the Coast where they visited in San Diego, Long Beach and other Coast cities. Mrs. Paul Seegmiller and her daughter, Fayone, who is working in Las Vegas, returned last Friday from San Diego, where they had spent several days visiting friends. Mrs. Sina J. Bunting moved to Cedar City last week. She has been in poor health recently and will be closer to her children there. Mr. and Mrs. R. "a. -Carpenter and two children arrived last week from Salt Lake City to make their home in St. George. . . Mrs Charles Scoville is in lo- nuervi'lle visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sam-uel C. Dodge. Their soa Kc. U-man U-man Dodge of Camp White, Ore., was also home recently on a Jo-day Jo-day furlough which he spent with his parents and his sisters. Mr. and Mrs. LeRay Bennett of Reno, accompanied by their friend, Jack Kilpack, visited Friday over Monday at the home of Mrs. Es-tella Es-tella McArthur and with their grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Jacob-son. Jacob-son. They were joined here by Mr. Bennett's sister, Mrs. Grant Robinson and three children of Hinckley. The entire group spent Sunday in Pine Valley, Mrs. Robinson Rob-inson and children remaining for the week. Mrs. Fergus Wallis came up from Las Vegas early Wednesday morning to get her daughter, Clara Lu, who has been visiting for two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Archie D. Wallis. '? '? Valrea and Irma Hafen left Wednesday evening for Los Angeles An-geles where they will spend a week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. McKay Neilson and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hobbs. Both women are sisters sis-ters of Irma Hafen. .V- jr. Vt- -7T 3f Mr. and Mrs. George Pace and children returned Saturday from a two-week's outing to Fish Lake. Mrs. Pace figures her husband is really a fisherman, since he hauled in a 12-pound beauty on one day of their vacation. -JC- o. ot. 1!- -jf Several small informal dinner parties have been held this week honoring Seaman Ross McArthur and June Barton, who are home on furloughs. Miss Helen Fawcett left July 28 for San Francisco for an extended ex-tended visit with her brother, Boyden Fawcett and wife. She has been an employee on the local telephone exchange for the past three years. Miss Tillie Winsor returned Tuesday Tues-day from Salt Lake City where she accompanied her sister, Mrs. C. H. Anderson of Boise, who was ' returning home after visiting in St. George for two weeks. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Dalton and family. |
