Show HEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Miss Jean Abbott is here from Bunkerville to spend the remainder remaind-er of the summer with her sister, Mrs. Gus Pendleton. Their mother, Mrs. James Abbott, visited in St. George over Sunday, Mrs. Pendleton Pendle-ton having spent last Thursday and Friday in Bunkerville with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Richard ' Horsley and daughter, Coleen, left Monday afternoon for their home in Hawthorne, Haw-thorne, Nev., after visiting for several days with Mrs. Horsley's mother, Mrs. Roxa J. Miss Sylvia Snow came up from Las Vegas Friday evening and was joined here by Miss Marie Higbee and Miss Helen Miles, who accompanied ac-companied her to her family's summer home in Pinto, to visit over July 4th and 5th. Miss Edna Rae Gardner was also Miss Snow's guest' over Sunday. Carter of St. George and her daughter, Mrs. Esther Wood of Hurricane. Mrs. Carter remained to visit with another daughter, Mrs. S. C. Gerard. On Saturday. Mrs. Ruesch took her mother. Mrs. Mary E. Woodbury and Miss Ellen Carter to Hurricane to attend at-tend the Independence Day program pro-gram which they report was very excellent. Special mention was made of the oration by Mavis Isom, and the singing by Sidney Isom, and Violet Averett. She reports that her son, Edgar, who is convalescing con-valescing in Pine Valley from his recent Coast illness, is making definite def-inite improvement. Evan Pickett Pick-ett to Salt Lake City on Sunday when he left for his Army duties. They were also accompanied to Salt Lake City by Miss Fawn Schmutz, who returned there to her work. 5't- A letter to the News office from Mr. and Mrs. William H. Prince of Salt Lake City tells of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Prince there on July 6th. Mrs. Prince was the former Miss Beth Gubler of Ivins. Hyatt left Tuesday evening for their home in Los Angeles after visiting vis-iting at the 'home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hyatt for the past three weeks. Dr. Hyatt expects to enter the service about August 1st as a First Lieutenant. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Hyatt and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Crawford of Cedar City also visited here while their brother was here. H. Harris was joined at the bus Tuesday by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henderson Kude of San Francisco, Calif., who went on to Lehi with her for an extended visit. I Miss Patricia Taylor, niece of Miss Ruth Falck, is here from San Francisco for an extended visit with her aunt. Miss Don Finley, who . is employed em-ployed in the McGregor hospital left Wednesday for Kanab to visit her parents for two days. Second Lieut. Evan Pickett left Sunday for Salt Lake City from where he will entrain for Camp Kruger, Olkahoma, where he is assigned as-signed to military service. , Mr. and Mrs. Clark Blake and small son, Jimmie, drove to Kanab Sunday, where Mrs. Blake and Jimmie took tho ous for Flagstaff. Flag-staff. At Flagstaff they boarded the train for Monhans, Texas, where they will visit with her parents. She will be gone for about three weeks. Lee Owens arriveci in town Tuesday morning from Los Angeles, An-geles, where he has employment on the police force of the North American aviation plant at Ingle-wood. Ingle-wood. He returned to California Tuesday night. Mrs. Owens and two children will remain in St. George for the time being, states Mr. Owens. Corporal Horace Thompson arrived ar-rived Tuesday from LeMoore, Calif., where he is stationed with the 88th air base. Granted a ten-day ten-day furlough, he went on to Salt Lake City Wednesday afternoon, where he will visit with his sister, Mrs. R. L. Robinson, and on to Brigham City to visit with his. i brothers, G. Carlyle . and Heber I and their families, planning to return re-turn to St. George Saturday for a few days before returning to ' his post. Allie Gregerson, accompanied by friends, visited her grandmother, grand-mother, Mrs. George Worthen and other relatives, over the 4th. Miss Laurel Woodbury returned last Friday from New Harmony and Cedar City, where she spent a month visiting relatives and friends. |
