Show HURRICANE Miss Julia Whitney Reporter The Hurricane elementary school presented a Christmas pageant here Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 17 and 18, entitled, "A Child Is Born". Slides showing the birth and youth of Jesus, were given along with the pageant. The program pro-gram was under the direction of Glenn M. Webb and Paul' H. Gates. Clark Ballard, who is attending school in Logan, is home for the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Acil Jones spent Saturday in Boulder City visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Tobler. Harvey Dalton, who is working m Salt Lake City, is home to spend the Christmas holidays. . Mr. and Mrs. Clair Breinholt of Murray are here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heaton. Rulon Woodbury is home for the Christmas holidays. He is attending at-tending school in Logan. Price Workman, who is working in Salt Lake City, is here visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Workman. Miss Ruth Wall left Monday for Los Angeles where she will spend the Chirstmas holidays. Miss Merline Stevens, who is attending at-tending school in Provo, is here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Stevens. Mrs. Virgil White of Long Beach, Calif., spent the week end visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spendlove. G. Fenton Whitney spent the week end in Boulder City and Las Vegas on business. Orien Ballard ,who is working in Cedar City, is here visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Ballard. Mr. and Mrs. Horatio Gubler and family of Modena are here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heaton. Ellen Carter and Emily Day of Long Beach, Calif., stopped in on their way to Rockville to visit with Mrs. Anna J. Wood on Thursday. Reception Held A wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glower, who were married in Salt Lake City Saturday, Dec. 20ths was given Saturday evening. Mrs. Golwer before her marriage was Miss Shirley Spendlove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Spendlove. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, where many friends and relatives of the young couple called during the evening. Musical selections were given by Mrs. Enid Ence, Clinton Clin-ton Isom, Roma Heaton, Gwynn Bradshaw and Kate Isom. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones of Rocksprings, Nev., spent Friday visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Isom. Earl Spendlove, who has been working in Broken Bow, Neb., returned re-turned home recently. "Young April", a three-act comedy com-edy by Aurani a Rouverol and edy by Spence A. Rouverol and chosen for the school play this year. Tryouts were held Friday noon for the different parts. Mrs. Velma Walters of Boise, Ida., is here for a short visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson A. Snow and small children left Wednesday to spend Christmas with Mrs. Snow's parents in Provo. A Christmas party for the mothers and Kindergarten children Dan Heaton returned Wednesday Wednes-day to Reno, to join his family for Christmas, after visiting and transacting business in St. George for the past three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Nisson of Los Angeles are visiting relatives in St. George and Washington over the holidays. Junior Larkin entertained a small group of associate students Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Larkin, following fol-lowing the presentation of the oratorio. or-atorio. Included among the guests were Miss Mary Pratt of Hinckley Hinck-ley and Bob Inscore of Nephi, who left Monday for their respective res-pective homes to spend the holidays. holi-days. 1 Thomas Graham, of Whittier, Calif., who made his home from childhood for many years with Mr. and Mrs. James S. Jones attended at-tended Mrs. Jones' funeral Saturday. Satur-day. Others here from out-of-town to attend the services included Mrs. Sarah Ann Houston, Mrs. Jones' sister, and son Wallace, and her brother, Luke LaFevre, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter LaFevre and Mr. and Mrs. George LaFevre, all of Panguitch; Mr, and Mrs. Walter Wal-ter LaFevre of Tabiona; Mr. and Mrs. Myron Jones and Willard Jones of Enoch; S. Samuel Jones, Mr. , and Mrs. Roy Wood, Emily Biederman, Mr. and Mrs. Heber Prisbrey; Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Williams, Mary Ann Hall, Eliza Owens, and Mr. and Mrs. George Jones, all of Cedar City. was held Tuesday, at 2:00 p m A program was given by the children under the direction of Mrs. Cora Brown, Kindergarten supervisor. Candy and nuts were given to the children. |
