Show Funeral Service Held For Dale Cheney, Monday VEYO, Utah. Funeral services were held in the Veyo ward hall at 10 a. m., Monday for Edwin Dale Cheney, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bertram Cheney who met instant death on Highway No. 17 at 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, while watching his father assist a tourist whose car had stalled on the steep grade of the hill point one mile south of Veyo. Bishop George Chadburn conducted the services. Dale had gone with his father, and while they were attempting to push the stalled machine had climbed onto the running board of Ms father's car. A sudden lurch of the machine dislodged him, flinging him a dozen feet from the machine and breaking his neck at the base of the skull. Dr. A. W. McGregor was called and said death was instantaneous. Edwin Dale Cheney was born in Greeley, Colo., Feb. 8, 1930, a son of Bertram and Muriel Gibson Gib-son Cheney. They moved to Veyo, in May 1932, where they have since resided. Mr. Cheney is a plasterer. Surviving, besides his parents, are one brother, Bertram Jr., aged 13, who is living with relatives and attending school in Ft. Collins, Colo., and a sister Emmy Lou, aged 8. Burial was in Veyo cemetery. |
