Show Cowboys, Cowgirls and Professional Rodeo Stock Headed For Dixie's Seventh Annual Round-Un Cowboys and cowgirls bucking horses, and wild Brahma steers, are all enroute to the three-day Dixie Round-Up Rodeo next week's feature attraction for the state of Utah, which starts here next Thursday. As in previous years, all the rodeo events will be on a strictly competitive basis, for the generous purses, put up by the management, to insure the attendance of the country's highest ranking professional talent. tal-ent. Paul Hill, who owns the best string of bucking horses, west of the Rockies, is looking after the details of the show. The list of entries, as well as the stock selected se-lected for use at the Dixie Round-Up, Round-Up, will represent the "blue book" of rodeo profession, according to Hill and he promises the most 1 colorful and exciting rodeo ever j staged in this section, on Sept. 18, 19 and 20. The wild Brahma steers, now enroute to St. George are especially es-pecially vicious and a ride on the back of one of these critters, is enough to test the courage and skill of the most hardy cowhand. Frequently- a contestant is called upon to save his very life, by some quick thinking, for the Brahma will invariably turn on the luckless rider he has thrown and try to trample or gore him. Most every cowboy has at some time been forced to throw himself him-self on the ground and remain absolutely motionless, while a Brahma rushes at him. Under! such circumstances the Brahma J will usually jump right over his I intended victim. It is particularly interesting to watch the tenseness! and excitment around the chutes . when the Brahma event is about; to start. Filled with dangerous moments I I and thrilling escapes from charging charg-ing livestock, the Dixie Round-Up program will be sprinkled with humor by one of the funniest clowns in the rodeo circuit, from the starting feature to the grand finale. Kangaroo Court Kangaroo court will be held on Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, it was announced an-nounced today by Dr. M. O. Hutchings and his staff. Sheriff Reed Leigh issues a warning that all must wear R.odeo apparel or suffer the consequences. Advertiso Rodeo E. N. (Dick) Hammer and Ez McArthur will leave Friday morning morn-ing with a sound car to advertise the Rodeo at all towns between here and Las Vegas. They will return re-turn through Nevada towns of (Continued on page five) Dixie Round-Up (Continued from first page) Caliente, Panaca and Pioche. At Las Vegas they will extend official of-ficial invitations to all civic and club organizations to attend the celebration. Tickets On Sale Tickets will go on sale this week-end at the Dixie Drug, Liberty Lib-erty hotel, Dick's cafe and Pickett Lumber company. The tickets can be used at any of the three performances instead of being limited lim-ited to anyone. Tickets are being sold to help speed up the handling of the crowd at the Rodeo grounds. Val McArthur, finance chairman who is in charge of the ticket sale, calls attention to the fact that additional seating capacity has been provided this year so that the public will be able to be seated in the grand stand or the bleachers. Entrance to the ground will be made from the north and south parts of the park. Cars can be driven in from the south and parked, but, people will not be able to see from their cars due to the enlarged bleacher section. Property owners around the grounds are asking that the public to please not tramp over their lots, but enter the grounds by the gates provided. Attention is called by them to the fact that they do not want people in their grounds and barns with the attendant at-tendant danger of property destruction. |
