Show Car Thieves Captured At Glendale, Nev.f Wednesday Morning Two thieves were apprehended at Glendale, Nev., Wednesday morning morn-ing by the combined forces of the local sheriff's office and those of Las Vegas. News that the thieves were coming this way was received re-ceived from Salt Lake City on Tuesday night with the result that Sheriff Antone B. Prince and Deputy Sheriff Art Mitchell watched the highways all night long for the men, but they failed to come through the checking station until about 9 a. m., Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. The men, two of a trio who held up and robbed an old man at an auto camp and then stole a (Continued on page five) Car Thieves Captured (Continued from first page) car to make their escape in, were taken from the stage at Glendale Glen-dale following a tip that two strange men had boarded a bus at Beaver Dam Lodge. Sheriff Mitchell Mitch-ell was first notified that the men had come through this way when a patrolman at the checking check-ing station saw the stolen car go by that point. Mitchell immediately im-mediately phoned Las Vegas officers of-ficers to be on the lookout for them started out after them in his car. Sheriff Prince had gone to Salt Lake on business earlier in the day. Fails To Find Car Mitchell reports that he must have passed the men because he drove through to Glendale without with-out seeing the car. He was on his way back, rechecking the side roads and had gotten to Mesquite when the call came through notifying noti-fying him that the men had boarded the bus. He immediately called Glendale with the result that he and the Nevada officers arrived there just as the bus was pulling in and nabbed their men. The car was later found abandoned aband-oned on a side road near Beaver Dam. The names of the three wanted are: Robson Wowey, 18; Glen Rose, 21, and Howard T. Jensen, 19. Which two of the three men that they caught is not known by Mr. Mitchell, since the men were taken to Las Vegas where they will be held for the U.S. Marshal. Car thieves taking cars across state lines immediately come under the Federal courts juristdiction. |
