Show Mrs. Josephine Cannon Jones Dies At Her Home In Provo, October 15 Relatives in St. George were advised ad-vised Sunday of the death of Mrs. Josephine Cannon Jones, 63, wife of Shadrach Jones, that day at her home in Provo. She suffered a stroke Oct. 9, and failed to recover. re-cover. Funeral services are being held in Provo this (Thursday) afternoon. Bom in St. George, Aug. 22, 1881, she was a daughter of David H. and Wilhelmina Cannon. Her parents had come to St. George in the winter of 1861 to help establish the Dixie Cotton Mission of the L. D. S. church. Besides attending the schools in St. George, she was a student at the B. A. C, Cedar City and later of the B. Y. U., Provo. On June 25, 1902, she married Mr. Jones in the St. George Temple. They have since made their home in Provo where she has been active as a church work- (Continued on page three) Mrs. Jones Death (Continued from first page) er. She was associated with the childrens' primary and the Sunday Sun-day schools and served as president presi-dent of the Y.W.M.I.A. of Provo Fifth ward. She has served as Utah county president and Utah state vice-president of the D. U. P; president of Alice Louise Reynolds Rey-nolds club chapter 6 of Provo, a member of the Provo Browning Society and was secretary of the municipal section of the Provo Women's council at the time of her death. She has also been active in Red Cross and other community work. Surviving besides her husband are two sons and one daughter, Cannon Jones, Lawrence Jones and Mrs. J. W. Smith, all of Provo, nine grandchildren, 16 brothers and sisters: Angus Cannon, Can-non, Salt Lake City; Louis R. Cannon, Los Angeles; Frank and Eugene Cannon, Fielding, Utah; Bayard Cannon, Central; W. W. , Claude, Reymond, Walter, Vernon Vern-on and Harold Cannon and Mrs. Milton Burgess, all of St. George; Douglas Cannon, Tremonton, Earl Cannon, Los Angeles, Mrs. Jos. W. Webb, Hurricane and Mrs. Lamond Huntsman, Enterprise. |
