Show Uintah to host regional wrestling tourney Uintah High School will host a Utah Wrestling Coaches' Freestyle Tournament, Tourna-ment, Saturday in Vernal. Weigh-ins will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and the wrestling action will begin some time between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Wrestlers from Altamont, Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Green River, Grand County, Kanab, Manila, Monticello, San Juan, Tabiona, Union, Uintah, Valley and Whitehorse will take part in the region meet. Also some Colorado and Wyoming tusslers will compete in the meet. The top three Utah wrestlers in each weight will advance to the state meet at Viewmont High School, April 12. Seventy-four Vernal wrestlers competed com-peted in a qualifying meet at Brighton High School. Saturday and nine matmen pocketed first place crowns. Lance Sizemore, bantam, 70; Ken Cobbs, elite, 192; Brent Rasmussen, intermediate, in-termediate, 105; Devin Bailey, junior, 90; Nathan Sunkees. midget, 75; Larry Wiseman, junior, 70; Criag Kunk. intermediate, in-termediate, 85; David Gurr, junior. 80 and C. Christensen, midget, 90, garnered first place titles. Steve Bascom, midget, 55; Darrin Bailey, advanced, 138. 5; Matthew Sunkees, intermediate, 105; Josh Reynolds, advanced, 121; Casey Beynon, bantom, 65; Mike McCurdy, midget, 80; David Powell, midget, 65; Mike Smith, intermediate, 80 Dusty Morris, bantam, 45 and Ryan Van Tassell, bantam, 55, placed second. Chance Bailey, bantam, 55; Tommy Lunds, junior, 119; Brian Murray, midget, 85; Greg Cobbs, intermediate, 140; Jeff Good, advanced, 138.5; Gary Murray, intermediate, 100 and Brett Brown, advanced, 112, nabbed third places.
