Show Cause found in infant deaths A preservative commonly used in intravenous in-travenous solutions may have contributed con-tributed to the deaths of 16 premature infants, the Food and Drug Administration Administra-tion announced. The agency said researchers in New Orleans and Portland, Ore., uncovered the problem with the preservative Benzol alcohol. The deaths occurred at the two medical centers during the past year. The FDA said 50,000 pediatricians, hospital pharmacists and administrators ad-ministrators will be alerted to the problem pro-blem by mail. |
