Show literary Cbb Members Enjoy 70th" Club Birthday Party The Woman's Literary Club ' Moab's oldest women's organization, or-ganization, celebrated their j 70th birthday at an anniversary anniver-sary tea at the Desert Inn Saturday afternoon. Past presidents of the Club : were hostesses for the event, with immediate past president, presi-dent, Mrs. Sidney Pool chairman. chair-man. Out of town guests included in-cluded six members of the Woman's Club of Green River. The traditional green and yellow Club colors dominated the party decor. The tea table ta-ble was laid with a beautiful hand crocheted tablecloth over green brocade, belonging to Mrs. Mars Pope. A crystal bowl held a green and yellow floral arrangement, set in a golden cradle. A large gold '70" and white tapers completed com-pleted the centerpiece. Guests were served birthday cake decorated with green and yellow yel-low roses at individual tables centered with floral arrangements arrange-ments by Mrs. John Levering. Past presidents Mrs. N. S. Christensen and Mrs. Ed Drake poured; Mrs. Pope and Mrs. William llines served serv-ed the cake. Several members of the club wore period costumes at the event, significant of tlv? early-day origin of the organization. or-ganization. Mrs. Essie Bailey 44-year-member of the Woman's Wo-man's Literary Club was in- troded. Program for the afternoon was chairmaned by ' Mrs. Drake. Mrs. Jeston Blewitt played a piano solo; Mrs Ray Townsend sang "Memories"; "Mem-ories"; Mrs. Pope, a 37-year-member of the Club gave a history of the 70 years of civic and social activities of the organization. Mrs. Townsend sang "My Nelly's Blue Eyes" accompanied by Mrs. Gerald Stout. Several members of the club presented a nostalgic dance, "The Boston Two-Step", Two-Step", choreographed and directed di-rected by Mrs. Levering. The dancers included Nellie Me-Atlin, Me-Atlin, Joyce Randolph, Jen Pope, Leona Christensen, Sylvia Syl-via Levering, Jeanette Mike-sell, Mike-sell, Lin Murdock, and Palma Jacobs. Mrs. Rosalie Robertson donned native dress to sing "LaPaloma". Group singing of old songs such as "Down By the Old Midstream", "Till We Meet Again," and "Let the Rest of the World Go By" led by Mrs. Stout and accom-paied accom-paied by Mrs. Townsend, concluded con-cluded the program. The next meeting will be March 16, with Mrs. Carroll Meador and her Education Committee in charge.
