Show Drop in Visitor Use 0JL Noted in Area Parks Visitation figures for the Canyonlands Complex were released this week, with most sections showing show-ing a drop in visitor use. Natural Bridges National Na-tional Monument showed the greatest decrease, 54 per cent for the month. There were only 4,690 persons at this area during dur-ing July compared with 10,219 for the same period per-iod last year. Visitation for the year at Bridges is also showing a drop with 30,227 visitors during dur-ing the first seven months of this year compared with 36,575 for the same period during 1972, a drop of 17 per cent. The Maze District of Canyonlands showed the greatest percentage increase, in-crease, however only 79 persons visited there during the month. This compares w ith 18, a year ago. For the year to date, 821 persons have visited the Maze, compared with 555 a year ago, an increase in-crease of 48 per cent. Island in the Sky section sec-tion of Canyonlands showed an increase in visitation for the first month recently with a 20 per cent increase. During the month, 4,181 persons visited there compared with 3,470 for July of last year. This brings the total visitation for the year to 18.845 compared with 18,903 for the same period last year. In the Needles District of Canyonlands, 4,275 persons visited during July compared with 5.007 for the same month in 1972, a decrease of 15 per cent.
