Show Pioneer Relics Add Interest to DUP Meet Adding much interest to the DUP meeting of Camp Spring Creek held Thursday afternoon, were the many relics and pioneer heirlooms which the hostess, Mrs. Eva Hansen, displayed for the meeting. Among the antique pieces were a seventy-year-old commode with matching mirror, a pink and white wash bowl and pitcher set, a walnut wal-nut stand, a metal kereosene lamp with shade which was about 75 years old, an 80-year-old rocking chair, an 80-year old bed-spread woven by Mrs. Margaret Ford Johnson, wife of Bishop Aaron Johnson, the thread for which was hand spun and dyed by Mrs. Johnson. John-son. There was a large family Bible which is 70 years old and a very choice rjendulum clock which Mr. Hansen's father carried under his arm walking- from Salt Lake City to Springville. A stripped homemade home-made carpet of Grandma Hansen's; a real old vase and pictures of the past lent a true pioneer spirit to the gathering. Captain Irma P. Brailsford was in charge of the meeting and after singing and the opening prayer, a salute to the flag was led bv Mrs. Maude Christensen, who later reviewed re-viewed the by-laws. A report of the DUP convention held recently in Salt Lake City was given by Mrs. Mary T Smart and the lesson "They Came in 1853" was by Mrs. Ivy Anderson. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting by hostesses Mrs. Hansen. Mrs. Reba Reynolds, Helen Reynolds, Mrs. Maude Christensen, Chris-tensen, Mrs. Mary Whitehead. |
