Mrs. Eliza Thorn entertained at Sunday dinner in compliment to Dr. and Mrs. Mark Brlnghurst of Salt Lake and Mrs. William Erdrnnn of Bingham. . Miss Marian Groesbeck spent the week-end In Salt Lake with her sister, sis-ter, Miss Helen Groesbeck. Charles Boyer, Ray Hansen, Miss Catherine Dougnll and the hostess. The luncheon was followed by cards at the Neil home, at which Mrs. Mace, Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Hansen Han-sen won prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hales of Spanish Span-ish Fork entertained at dinner Sunday, Sun-day, complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hales of Springville. Miss Inez Jessie was the week-end guest of Miss Lucell Toulsou of I'leasant Grove. Miss Orissa Brinton, of Ogden, spent the wek-cnd with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sumsion will make their home in Myton, Utah, this summer. Miss Ruth Boyer was a Salt Lake visitor Saturday and Sunday. Miss Ada Harrison and Miss Rose Crabtree, of Salt Lake City, were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Harrison. They returned to Salt Lake in the evening. J Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Boyer, Mrs. M. A. Boyer and Miss Thelma Boyer Boy-er and Mack Johnson motored to Eureka Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch, who have been residing in Springville, have returned to their home in Map-leton. Map-leton. Mrs. E. M. Boyer is visiting in Salt Lake this week with herdauglv-ter, herdauglv-ter, Mrs. F. C. Packard. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Jolley and son Salvin, of Salt Lake, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Dallin Sunday. Sun-day. Miss Mnttie Davis, Ellen Wheeler, Mary Boyer, Marie Nelson, Idona Harrison, Ida Harmer nnd Helen Gale hiked to the Big Hollow Saturday Sat-urday evening and enjoyed a huge bonfire, roasted wienies and marsh-mellows, marsh-mellows, told spookie stories and as things were getting spookie they left at nine thirty. The Home Culture Club met nt the home of Mrs. W. L. Grooms irtst Friday, with twenty members present. Mrs. Harold Harwood sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. D. A. Smith, after which Mrs. II. A. Baxter gave a paper on flower gardening. The following officers were elected for the coming year : Mrs. J. F. Wingate, president; Mrs. A. M. Lyall, vice president; Mrs. A. L. Garbett, seceretary ; Mrs. C. F. Packard, treasurer; Mrs. II. Mc-Dougall, Mc-Dougall, Miss Sophia Packard, Mrs. Sarah Houtz, executive committee. The members responded to roll call with Irish jokes. The meeting adjourned ad-journed nnd the hostess served refreshments. The Relief Societies of Springville nnd Mapleton celebrated March 17 with a ragbec. In all the wards there were two quilts quilted and bound, a large number of quilt blocks made, patching and darning done, nnd an enormous amount of rngs cut and sewed. At 4 o'clock a road show was given by the following fol-lowing : Snxophine selection, "Face to Face," by Mr. LeRoy, accompanied accompan-ied by his sister from the Mapleton wnrd ; reading, "When Mr. and Mrs. Man Took a Trip on the Train," by Mrs. May Child from the First ward. "Aunt Jane Visits School," from the Second ward. Vocal solo, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen," by Mrs. Anna B. Harwood from the Third ward. "The Eternal Triangle" Tri-angle" was given by the Fourth ward. Light refreshments were served in all the wards and there was a large attendance in all the wards. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn motored to Eureka Friday. Mrs. Jessie W7adley, of Pleasant Grove, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Robertson. Mothers Study Club met at the home of Mrs. Josie Alleman March 12. There were twenty members present. "America," sung by the club members; life of Bret Hnrte, given by Mrs. Mae Fletcher; story of "The Great Dead Wood,'' given by Mrs. Maud Thorn; piano solo given by Miss Jane Alleman, rev sponding to an encore ; duet by Hannah Han-nah Reynolds and Ray Alleman, responding to an encore ; adjournment. adjourn-ment. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Zebina Reynolds, Mrs. J. W. Alleman and Miss Jessie Alleman were guests. The next club meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Philda Fliiley March 26. President and Mrs. B. Frank Burch of Eureka, were the guests Sundny of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. A. Simkins. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Bird, Dr. and Mrs. George A. Anderson, Mrs. Rhodn Groesbeck and Mrs. Taylor of Salt Lake City. During the evening cards were played play-ed and games enjoyed. Light refreshments re-freshments were served. Mrs. J. R. Harmon and baby Joe have treturned from Suit Lake and are at the home of Mrs. A. C. Bird. Mrs. Blain Kindred has as her guest this week her father, Mr. Miller, Mill-er, of Ephraim. Miss Helen Carlyle, of Logan, spent the week-end with Mr. nnd Mrs. J. W. Groesbeck. Mrs. J. W. Groesbeck entertained the Daughters of the Pioneers at her home last Thursday. Every number on the program was appreciated, appre-ciated, especially the lesson thnt was given by Mrs. Mary Finley. The hostess wns assisted in serving by Mrs. Julia Packurd and Mrs. Nellie Straw. Pierce was voted in a new member. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis J. Whitney nnd children have returned home after a week's trip in Garfield county. . Mrs. Harry Pennington was hostess hos-tess to the S. T. Club Thursday evening eve-ning at her home. Three tables of progressive five hundred were played, play-ed, with Mrs. Lewis Clegg winning high score. During the evening radio ra-dio music from different parts was enjoyed. Miss Norma Humphrey and Miss Florence Ferguson were guests. Luncheon was served at 11 o'clock to fourteen. Mrs. Lucy Robertson is visiting in Pleasant Grove this week. Mr. and Mrs.. A. O. Thorn and Mr. nnd Mrs. Alma W7heeler and Mrs. Hnttie Blackett motored to Salt Lake Saturday and while there attended the Salt Lake Theatre. Mrs. Guy Mendenhnll and daughters daugh-ters Odessa, Albert annd Almira, were week-end visitors in Salt Lake. The Gleaner Girls of the First ward entertained at the home of Miss Fern Sumsion for the officers and teachers Weduesdny evening. A delightful time wns had by all, as many games were enjoyed and light refreshments served. Mrs. WT. A. McKenzie and Mrs. E. A. Lee entertained nt the former's for-mer's home Friday evening, in hon-nor hon-nor of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Sumsion. The home was beautifully decorated decorat-ed with marigolds and ferns. Games were enjoyed during the evening and delicious refreshments were served to thirty-five. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Eggertsen of Provo nnd Mr. nnd Mrs. Sterling Lawrence of Suit Lake City. Mrs. Glen Neil entertained the Saturday Afternoon Card Club and n few invited guests at a lnucheon at the Harrison ' hotel Saturday. They were seated at one long table of which a beautiful mound of green carnations formed the center piece. The place cards and favors were suggestive of St. Patrick's day.
