Show PAYSON BEATS SPRINGVILLE High School Looses First Football Game of i Season A drop kick from the 35-yard line gave the Payson high school the lyong end of a 3-0 score with the Springville eleven in the first league game of the season played ou the Payson field last Friday Springville played an agressive game and came close to scoring a number of time while Payson never threatened a touchdown during the game. A series of line bucks and forward for-ward passes carried the ball into the Payson territory a nuiulier of times bu bad plays and errors gave the ball to the opponends who kicked it back up the field. The Springville line held like a wall of steel. Myron- Childs did exceptionally ex-ceptionally well in the kicking. Buss Jensen and Clair Gudmundson were other outstanding performers. The lineup for Springville was as follows. Dalph Noakes, center; Harold biting, left guard; Sam Clarg, right guard ; Howard May-cock, May-cock, left tickle; Elwood Jones, right tackle; Wendell Mendenhall, right end ; Garnie Johnson, left end ; Elden Childs, quarter hack ; Roah Johnson, left hnlfhback; Buss Jensen, right halfback; Clair Gudmundson. The next game will be played on the Springville field today at 3:30 with Eureka. |
