Show Miss Marchbanfo, Mr. Weight United ! In Marriage at Lovely Home Wedding t ' Miss Nona Marchbanks, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo March-banks, March-banks, became the bride of Ross Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Weight, at a charming home ceremony Saturday, October 12, with the Mapleton ward bishop, Frank Jensen, officiating. Following the marriage, an informal in-formal reception honoring the young couple was held at the T. L. Callister home in Spanish Fork. The bride looked lovely in a brown sport ensemble and wore a corsage cor-sage of rosebuds. The program during the evening eve-ning included vocal solos by Freeman Free-man Bird and Leo Marchbanks, a reading by Dick Dudley, and an accordion solo by Virginia Warner. War-ner. T. L. Callister was master of ceremonies. During the evening approximately approxi-mately 100 relatives and friends called to extend best wishes and congratulations to the young couple. cou-ple. . Y. H. M. CLUB ENTERTAINED Members of the Y. H. M. club were entertained Friday at the home of Mrs. LaDean Henrichsen with Mrs. Dorothy Hazel acting as assisting hostess. Feature of the entertainment was a review of the book, "How Green is My Valley," given by Mrs. Arva Bone. Members attending were Mrs. Maryn Johnson, Mrs. Reba Clark, Mrs. Electa Cox, Mrs. Veryl Davis, Mrs. Frances Manson, Mrs. Jean Brown, Mrs. Hazel Clyde, Mrs. Betty Sumsion, the hostesses, and the following guests: Marie Johnson, John-son, Bernice Averett, Lois Miller, Utahna Hansen, Laura Welling, Virginia Law, and Amy Klauck. MRS. NELSON HOSTESS TO ALPHA BETA CLUB Members of the Alpha Beta club were entertained Friday at the home of Mrs. Carl O. Nelson. Beginning a series of good will programs on South America, Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson gave a paper on the ride down the eastern coast of South America. Mrs. Jessie Dalton gave an Interesting In-teresting talk on Utah poets and read several poems written by the various poets. Musical numbers included piano selections by Marion Nelson and vocal solos, "A Dream" and "God Bless America," by Dorothy Van Schaack. In conclusion refreshments were served to about 22 members. MOTHERS STUDY CLUB HEARS BOOK REVIEW Mrs. Stella Rich of Provo gave a review of the book "Dawn in Lyonesse," by Mary Ellen Chase at a meeting of the Mothers Study club Friday at the home of Mrs. Maude Peterson. Musical numbers on the program included selections by a vocal trio Margaret, Naomi, and Robert Peirce, "Indian Dawn," and "Lassie "Las-sie O' Mine," and also a vocal solo, "Hymn of Peace," by Robert Peirce. They were accompanied by Bell Thomas. Luncheon was served according to a Hallowe'en theme to twenty-five twenty-five members who attended. OIR-LA-CAUDRA CLUB ENTERTAINED THURSDAY Members of the Cir-la-Caudra club were entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Isa-belle Isa-belle Hardy. The evening was spent sewing and socially conversing, with luncheon served in conclusion to the following members: Mrs. John F. Taylor. Mrs. Virginia Law, Miss Clea Curtis, Miss Lucille Sumsion, Mrs. Etta Paxman, Miss Klell Case, Miss Marjorie Clark, Miss Conda Riding, and the hostess. AVYOMLNG VISITOR FETED AT DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bird entertained en-tertained at dinner at their home on Sunday in honor of Mrs. Lois J. White of Greenriver, Wyoming. Besides the guest of honor, covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Williams and Jane B. Will-pms, Will-pms, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Johnson of Spanish Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Packard of this city. VERSATILITY CLUB ENTERTAINED THURSDAY Mrs. Ferl Bown, assisted by Mrs. Geraldine Atkinson, entertained enter-tained members. of the Versatility club at her home Thursday evening. eve-ning. Luncheon was served early at small tables, after which three new members, Marva Taylor, Minnie Min-nie Walton and Billie Burt, were accepted into the club and a Hallowe'en Hal-lowe'en party to be held at the home of Mrs. Geraldine Atkinson was planned. MELINDA SUMSION FETED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY First Ward Relief society officers offi-cers and teachers who worked with Mrs. Melinda Sumsion for twelve years while she was president, pres-ident, delightfully surprised Mrs. Sumsion Wednesday evening on the occasion of her birthday. The group presented Mrs. Sumsion Sum-sion with a lovely gilt and enjoyed enjoy-ed social conversation during the evening. At dinner, covers were laid for Mae Childs, Ann Jane Peirce, Mabel Ma-bel Law, Lois Clegg, Gertrude Sumsion, and the guest of honor. GIRLS ENJOY NOVEL JUNGLE PARTY A group of gTHs enjoyed a party in the jungles Thursday evening. A hot supper was cooked over a bonfire by the following girls: Edna Nielson, Ruth Crandall, Elsie El-sie Sumsion, and Hazel Bray. |
