Show Clyde-Bird Wedding Reception Highlights Week's Social Events a. i Gorgeously attractive in every detail de-tail was the wedding reception held at the home of Mayor and Mrs. W. W. Clyde Saturday evening, eve-ning, honoring their daughter, Ila Nan, and Lt. Gene E. Bird, son of Pres. and Mrs. J. Emmett Bird, who were married Friday in the Salt Lake temple. Approximately 300 guests were received during the evening by members of the wedding party in the spacious living room of the Clyde home. The group stood before be-fore the fireplace, the mantel of which was banked with a profusion profu-sion of white gladioli and other blossoms. Tall, white cathedral candles added to the decorative features. The bride was charming in a wedding gown of deep- eggshell satin with lace yoke and lace panels. pan-els. Her fingertip veil of bride's illusion, lace-edged, was caught with an arrangement of seed pearls. Her bouquet was of white-"Miss white-"Miss Utah' roses, lilies-of-the-val-ley and orchids. The groom was in military attire. Louise Clyde, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Mrs. Earl Child, matron of honor, with Mrs. Howard Craven of Rexburg, Ida., attending matron and Carol Clyde, sister of the bride, Shirley Banger-ter Banger-ter and Pat Pixton, bridesmaids. Each of the attendants wore a pastel-colored formal and held bouquets in corresponding colors. Guy Bird, Jr., was best man. Members of the Lambda Delta Sigma and the Alpha Chi Omega sororities of. the University of Utah assisted with the serving and in the gift rooms, which were supervised sup-ervised by Mrs. Cornell Clyde, Mrs. Blaine Clyde and Mrs. William Wil-liam Clyde. Refreshments were served from the dining table which held a huge white floral centerpiece and was covered with a beautiful lace cloth. A lovely, three-tiered wedding wed-ding cake was topped with a miniature mini-ature bride and groom in military attire. , Guests were entertained during the evening with a delightful program pro-gram of vocal and instrumental music and at the conclusion of the reception the sorority girls sang their bride and their theme songs. In the upstairs rooms of the home, the brides' lovely trousseau and wedding gifts were on display during the evening. The bride returned to the University Uni-versity of Utah from where she will graduate in June. Lt. Bird is to report soon at Alpena, Michigan. |
