Show NATIVE OF THIS CITY DIES IN CALIFORNIA Fred J. Payne, 69, a former resident res-ident of Springville, died at his home in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday, March 17, according to word received by relatives here. He was born in South Ontario, Canada, Feb. 23, 1876, and came to Springville with his parents, Daniel and Lydia Johnson Payne, at the age of two years. He received his education in the Springville schools and spent most of his life here. He married Bertha Ber-tha Barnett in 1897, and after her death he married Mace McFad-den. McFad-den. He was a member of the L. D. S. church. Surviving are his widow and three children by his first marriage, mar-riage, Mrs. Edditha Cunningham, Mrs. Lon Seeley and Jessie Payne, all of Provo; one daughter, Faye Payne, Long Beach, by the second sec-ond marriage, and seven brothers and sisters, J. W. Payne, Salt Lake City, Mrs. H. W. Palmer, Spanish Fork; D. E Payne, Springville; Spring-ville; Mrs Bert Faucett, Ogden; S. A. Payne, Los Angeles, Calif..' Mrs. Dean Hardy and Mrs. J. S. Holmes, Provo; also six grandchildren grand-children Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Saturday at 2 p. m., in the Bonneville ward at Provo, directed direct-ed by Bishop John Brailsford. Friends may call at the Berg mortuary Friday and on Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edditha Cunningham, Third So., Sixth East, Provo. Burial will be in the Springville Spring-ville Evergreen cemetery. |
