Show -N E W S B4 • WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2008 Spanish Fork Covering what matters most Men's Softball Champs SF Sugar Kings Courtesy photo CHAMPIONS: On Oct. 17, 2008 the Spanish Fork Sugar Kings won the championship game of the Rocky Mountain School of Baseball 12-U Fall Extravaganza Tournament. The tournament was held at the Salem Loafer View baseball complex. To get to the championship game, the Sugar Kings defeated Carbon Baseball 6 to 2 in the Semi Finals. The Kings then played the Orem Bruins in the championship game. The Sugar Kings were victorious by the score of 8-7 in a hard-fought, well-played game. Registration time at SF recreation Youth Basketball Youth Basketball (boys and girls, grades 3-8) early registration deadline is Monday, Nov. 3. Cost is $35.00. Early discount price on or before Nov. 3 is $30.Basketball camp is an additional $5. Practices will begin in December and games will.begin in January. Volunteer ; coaches are needed for all grade levels. The basketball camp for those who sign up for the league will be on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008 and Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008. Participants must be signed up for the league to attend the camp. Recreation Basketball High School Recreation Basketball league (boys and girls, grades 9-12) early registration deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008. Boys leagues will be a combined 9th/10th grade and an 11 th712th grade league. Girls will be a combined 9th-12th grade league. Games will be played on Saturdays and possibly some weeknights. Cost is $40. Early discount price on or before Nov. 18,2008 is $35. Thanksgiving Dodgeball The fifth annual'Thanksgiving Dodgeball Tournament" will be held the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Teams are made up of adults, 18 and older. Teams may consist of men, women or mixed gender. Team fee is $65 and must be prepaid. Registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 21, 2008. Twelve players are allowed on a team roster, with 10 players on the court at a time. Officials will be provided. Games will be played at Spanish Fork Jr. High School. Our new phone number is 804-4600. & Women's Roller Derby Mountain Valley Rollergirl's, a powder puff roller derby league, is forming in the area. '^ ALIGNMENTS Kenny Van Ausdal Student of the month Kenny Van Ausdal is the Maple Mountain Martial Arts student of the month for October. Kenny started training at Maple Mountain Martial Arts when he was in kindergarten, seven years ago. His favorite color is purple and his favorite desert is doughnuts. Kenny's favorite sports include martial arts and volleyball. He has two sisters and one brother and his dad is the principal of his school, so he gets to see him every day. Kenny is an excellent reader and does well in math. He really enjoys doing science experiments, is great at drawing and is always creating new, funny, and interesting cartoon characters. Kenny's favorite vacations include Disneyland and visiting a family cabin in Midway, where he loves to drive the snowmobiles.
