Show JJfestyles A4 • WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2008 Covering what matters most In remembrance Obituary Merrill E. Swenson Merrill E Swenson, 86, passed away Oct. 23, 2008 due to kidney failure. Son of George and Hannah Swenson, Merrill was born in Spanish Fork in 1922 and moved to Costa Mesa, California in 1950. He was a Marine Corps fighter pilot in both WWII and Korea. Graduate of UCLA, he worked for Rockwell International infinance.He served as Bishop and two senior couple missions in Micronesia and Ukraine. Survived by Margie Swenson, wife of 63 years, and children Ron, Be van, Joiefl, Dallas, and Tricia, 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Survived by brothers Waldo, Sheril, Raul, Ron, and Dallas and sisters Maretta Fillmore and Merla Thomas. Services Saturday, Nov. lstT Walker Mortuary, Spanish Fork. Viewing 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral 11:00a.m. Internment at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Merrill requested donations to the Perpetual Education Fund (www.ldsphilanthropies .org). Courtesy photo HONOR GUARD: It was with gratitude and honor that more than 50 Scouts (youth and adults) from the Palmyra District and Calvin's Hansen's Timberline course gathered Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008 to say farewell to 13-year-old Calvin, and to show his family support and love during this difficult time. Scouts and Scout leaders gathered together to line the entrance of the Spanish Fork Cemetery as Calvin's body was laid to rest. Chris and Donna Hansen's family have been constant supporters of Scouting, and the blessings that have come from interacting with this family have been tremendous. Scout 1st Birthdays Missionaries Haden Barber Oaklie Sage Johnson Coltan H. Tomlinson Haden Barber, of Lake Shore, received his Eagle Scout Award. Haden is the son of Kent and Kari Barber, and the grandson of Keith and Edith Barber and Paul and Sandra Hartley. Haden's Eagle Project consisted of putting up 500 feet of chainlink fence.and gates at the Lake Shore Park. He coordinated this project, dug the holes, set,the posts, built the gates and stretched the chain link. We would like to thank all the friends and family that physically helped on this project, Brent Taylor for being his eagle supervisor, the young men and leaders of Lake Shore 2nd Ward and Speedy Crete for donating a portion of the concrete. We know that this project would .>+• not have happened without the help of all of you. This project will help to ensure the safety and beauty of this park for all the families and neighbors that choose to use it. Good work Haden. We are so proud of you! She is the daughter of Jason and Sarah Johnson, of Spanish Fork. Helping Oaklie celebrate her big day was her big sister, Briley, and her proud grandparents, Ron and Brenda Johnson, of Spanish Fork, treat-grandparents, onald and Mary Leone Johnson, also of Spanish Fork, and Donald and Mary Ann Ludlow, of happy little girl and Benjamin. Oaklie is a very Mom and Dad! Brinley Baum This darling little one had her first birthday on Sept. 13,2008. Brinley enjoys: following mommy around the house, when daddy comes home, grandmas and grandpas, doggies, and exploring anything she can. His grandparents are Herb and Veone Tomlinson of Clearfield, Bruce and Evelyn Behling of Ferron and Roland and LaRae Hamilton, of Spanish Fork. Coltan entered the MTC on Oct. 8,2008. Nicolas John Oberhansly Nicolas John Oberhansly, son of Scot and Brenda Oberhansly, has been called to serve in the Romania Bucharest Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spoke on Oct. 26, 2008 in the Leland Ward. He will enter the MTC on Nov. 5. 1st Birthday Kay Lowe, Bob and the late Mary Jo Marshal. Brinley is the second grandchild to complete five generations.
