Olympus Seminary of the LDS Church will hold its graduation Thursday at 7:10 p.m. in the Holladay Stake Center, 4917 Viewmont Ave. About 250 students, one of the largesl classes in the area, will be graduaied. Under the supervision of the SGA, more than a hundred rds will be presented, including special SGA awards, athletic a-- wards in both major and minor sports, girls basketball and in-tramural competition, National Methodist and Scholastic awards, and others. To add zest to the day's ac-tivities, male students have been letting their beards grow the past two weeks and winners will be named also at the assembly. At 12:30 p.m. a buffet luncheon will be served from Ferry Hall and the sports events are sche-duled to begin at 1:30. Link, 1415 Downington Avenue. Horace A. Moses, founder of Junior in 1922, awards a number of such scholarships each year through the Moses Founda-tion. "With the Futures Unlimited Banquet and liquidation of the 16 miniature companies, the current program year has closed success-fully," said Mr. Byron A. Ray, Executive Director of Junior "Most of the com-panies will show a small divi-dend," said Mr. Ray, "but none of them were without their prob-lems." . - John Linder and Tom Worthen MEN HONORED Climaxing a year of participa-tion in Junior Achievement, stu-dents from the South, East, High-land, and Granite high schools were honored at a special pro-gram and banquet at the Hotel Utah. Among the guests hon-oring these young business practi-tioners was Governor and Mrs. George D. Clyde, Mayor Adiel F. Stewart and pominent men from the world of business, industry, religion and education. Dr. Frank E. Duddy, Jr. discussed "What Price Leadership" in which h; pointed out clearly that to achieve one must carry the bur-den of criticism and even derision. Among those given special rec-ognition John Linder, a Junior at South High School, son of Mrs. Jennie Linder, 40 Boulevard Gar-dens, and Tom Worthen, also a Junior at South High, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Worthen. 1170 Bryan Avenue were announced as delegates to the National Associa-tion of Junior Achievement Com-panies which will be held in Maytime Party Set Saturday Evening The Rose Gardens 3638 S. 1300 East will be the scene of the May-tim- e informal party Saturday evening May 18th for the Jam-be- ri Club members. Members and guests will be greeted by Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Jamison, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chy-- 1 traus, officers of the club. Colorful spring blossoms, held by delicate white china hands cuffed in lace will form the table decorations. Mrs. Jamison and Mrs. Chy-tra- us are in charge of decorations. A friendship hour begins the evening's events at 7:30 P. M. Dinner will be served at 8:30 with dancing to follow. St. Mary's Choir Presents Concert The annual Spring Concert of the St. Mary -- of --the --Wasatch College Glee Club was presented Sunday evening. The annual Spring Concert of the St. Mary - of - the - Wasatch College Glee Club-w- ith numbers ranging from religious hymns to Negro spirituals --was presented Sunday evening in the college as-sembly hall. Nearly a dozen male voices were added for the concert from the Newman Club at the Univer-sity of Utah, the Westminster College Glee Club and the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish. Two solo numbers featured Angi Mac Farland sieging "Greensleeve," an old English air, and a duo piano number, Rach-aninov- 's "Rhapsody," by Jeanette Gehrke and Phillis Dent The concert was under the di-rection of Sister M. Aloyisus, director of the music department of the college and a graduate of the American Conservatory of Music at Chicago. Nearly 200 persons attended. |
