Mill Creek SUP Hold Dinner Meet Barr Fisher presented an illus-trated lecture on astronomy at the monthly meeting of the East Mill Creek chapter, Sons of Utah Pio-neers, September 5. The dinner meeting at Pioneer Village was presided over by Dir-ector Thomas Lambert. Violin and piano music was presented by James Starr and his associates. LION'S CONVENE The regional convention of the Lions Clubs was held in Ogden, September 7 and 8. Herman Pra-ter, district governor, attended, and the other Lions Clubs through-out the region were represented by the delegates. Those attending from the Forest Hills Club were Clarence Mitchell, president; ; Richard Nygaard, sec- -' retary - treasurer and Henry Ny-gaard, zone chairman. 'Politicos Discuss Salt Lake County Young Repub-licans will hold their first monthly meeting of the fall season, Thurs-day night, September 12. at 8 p.m. in room 312 of the City and County building. The meeting is being sponsored jointly with the Young Democrats to hear debate on the current topic of interest "Home Rule." Young Republican program chairman. Ken Price and Young Democrat County chairman Grant McFarland announced that the speakers will be J.D. Williams, for; Homer Holmgren, against. Entertainment and refreshments will also be on the agenda for the evening. The public is invited to attend. Sepember Brides Chace-Wassm- er Evelyn Elaine Chace and Nor-man Donald Wassmer were mar-ried Friday, Sept. 6 6 in L.D.S. Temple rites. Elder Harold B. Lee officiated. The lovely bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Henry Chace, 1071 East 6th South. Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Wassmer, 396 Beryl Ave. are parents of the groom. The couple was feted with a wedding breakfast at the Beau hosted by the groom's parents. A reception was held that even-ing at the Bryon Ward Chapel. The couple will make their home in Salt Lake after honeymooning in Idaho. Student Increase Noted at Westminster An increase of 15 per cent in en-rollment is anticipated this yearj at Westminster College, according to Frank E. Duddy, Jr., president. Applications for enrollment are. still arriving and more than 400 students are expected to register September 19 for the first term beginning September 23. There have been more than 2D0 applications for enrollment from new students, as compared with 1665 a year ago. The annual faculty workshop is planned for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a faculty picnic Wednesday at 6:30 at Fairmont Park, 2245 McClelland sponsored by the Westminster Women's Or-ganization. Orientation Week will begin Sat-urday, when dormitories and the dining hall will open. The season's opening football game will be a match between the Parsons and Adam State College, Alamosa, Co-lorado. A wedding breakfast was held at the Beau Brummell Restaurant follow-ing the ceremony and a reception that evening was held at Twelfth Ward Chapel. Mrs. Leola Wood-ruff is the mother of the bride. The parents of the groom are Mrs. Clifford Knowlden of San Francisco, California and the late Louis (Dutch) Squires. The couple will honeymoon in Los Angeles, San Fran-cisco, California and Baniff, Can-ada. After their return, they plan to live in Salt Lake. Lady Lions Plan Fall Luncheon A party will be the theme of the first fall dinner meeting of the East Mill Creek Lady Lions, Thursday evening, September 12. Mrs. Margaret Beal will review the book, "How To Be an Absol-utely Perfect House-keeper.- " Ac-cordion music will complete the program. The group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Doll House for the dinner and bock review. Hostesses will be Mrs. Frank E. Pitts, Mrs. Ray Elggren, Mrs. B.M. Winsor, Mrs. Boyard A. Rob-inson, Mrs. John R. Garrison and Mrs.- - Ellis Brockus. Mrs. Clarence Anderson is president of the club. JayceesPlan Fall Membership Sugar House Jaycees will kick off their fall membership cam-paign Wednesday, September 11, according to president Frank Men-se- l. James E. Russell has been ap-pointed chairman of the drive, and will organize the club into teams for recruiting. Any man between the ages of 21 and 35, who also lives or works in the southeast area, is eligible for membership, said Mr. Russell.
