Show Murel Benson, 56, Dies Wednesday At Roosevelt Home Murel Franklin Benson, 56, died suddenly Wednesday noon at his home of a cerebral hemorrhage. hem-orrhage. He had been at work during the morning, but was at home when he became ill. For 15 years Mr. Benson had been associated with Leslie Ashton and Sons store in Roosevelt. Roos-evelt. He was a former commander com-mander of the American Legion, Basin Post 64; and was active in the LDS church at the time of his death, as a member of the High Council and president of the Stake Geneological committee. com-mittee. Mr. Benson was born Oct. 12, 1894, at Woodland, Summit county, a son of John J, and Lois Sylvia Turnbow Benson He lived at Woodland until 16 years of age, at which time the family moved to Roosevelt, where he has since resided. He married Naoma Forsythe, of Myton, May 12, 1920, at Duchesne. Du-chesne. The marriage was solemnized sol-emnized August 23, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Survivors in addition to. his wiaow, include seven children: Murel Kirk, Loya, Bob F., John William, Melba Joan, and Kenneth Ken-neth Doral Benson, Roosevelt; and Mrs. Donna Weber, San Francisco; seven brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lucinda Horton, San Francisco; Mrs. Eva Miles, Blythe, Calif.; Mrs. Naoma Swain, St. Anthony, Ida.; Mel-vin Mel-vin J. and Archie P. Benson, Ioka; LeRoy Benson, Roosevelt; and Morris Benson, Blackfoot, Ida. Another son, Lyle Dee, 17, was killed Sept. 30, 1949, while playing football at Roosevelt high school. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Monday at 11 a. m. at the Roosevelt Stake house, with Bishop Randall Stewart, Roosevelt Roos-evelt First ward, officiating. Friends may call at Olpin mortuary mor-tuary Saturday and Sunday and at the family home Sunday evening eve-ning and Monday until time of services. |
