Show Harriet S. Richards Funeral Services Held on Saturday An overflow crowd of relatives and friends from many points in Utah and other western states thronged the 2nd-4th ward chapel on Saturday afternoon, to pay last tribute of respect to a beloved mother, Mrs. Harriet Smith Richards. Rich-ards. The impressive rites began at 1 p.m. with Gerald Belliston cf the Fourth Ward Bishopric conducting. conduc-ting. The Fourth Ward Choir directed dir-ected by Ford M. Paulson sang the opening number My God and I. Invocation was offered by W. Robert Marrott, a neighbor. Biographical Bio-graphical sketch ajid tribute was read by Rosalie Richards, a granddaughter. grand-daughter. Speakers were Reed O. Walter, former bishop of the Second ward, who told of happy childhood hours in Mrs. Richard's home, with the Richards children and of his growing grow-ing appreciation of Mrs. Richards whon he later became bishop. Former Stake President Merrill N. Warnick also paid high tribute to Mrs. Richards and her family, and told of the promises in the hereafter for those who kept the faith. These speakers were interspersed intersper-sed by a vocal solo, In The Garden of Tomorrow, by Mrs. LaRee Radmall, accompanied by Rosalie Richards; a- vocal solo I Know That My Redeemer Lives, by Warren War-ren P. Kirk .accompanied by Mrs. Kirk. The Fourth ward choir sang I Need Thee Every Hour. Prior to the church services, prayer at the Mortuary was offered by Millen D. Radmall. Prelude and postlude organ music was played by Colleen Marrott. Benedicstion was pronounced pro-nounced by Bishop Keith D.'"Miller of the Second ward. Interment directed by Olpin-Sundberg Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary was made in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where Joseph C. Smith, a nephew offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers, all cloes relatives were Dr. Guy A. Richards, Ray L. Reid, Jack R. Haliday, Fred Richards, Rich-ards, Stephen Richards, Dean Richards. Flowers were cared for and arranged by the 4th ward Relief Re-lief Society. Mrs. Richards, 84, dlied at her home Wednesday afternoon, following fol-lowing a lingering illness. Born in Pleasant Grove, April 30, 1872, a daughter of Joseph W. and Jane Pattes Smith. Married to James Richads July 1, 1896. He died May 5, 1922. Member of the LDS Church and especialy aotive in the Relief Society organization. Survivors: four sons, Dr. Guy S. Richards, and Fred Richards, both of American Fork; Harry S. Richards Rich-ards and Blaine Richards, both of Pleasant Grove; two nieces whom she reared, Mrs. Ray (Jean) Reid, Whittier, Calif.; Mrs. Jack (Ora) Halladay, Albuquerque, N.M. and two step-children, Joseph Richards, American Fork and Mrs. Hattie Woods, Los Angeles, California; 19 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren. |
