Show Vern L. Halliday Dies of Heart Attack Monday Vern L. Halliday, assistant treasurer of Utah Power and Light Co., died at 7:30 a.m. Monday of a heart attack at his residence in the Ambassador Club, 115-5th E. He was 66. Mr. Halliday had been employed by Utah Power and Light Co. or one of its predecessor concerns since 1909, first as a timekeeper and record clerk. From 1911 to 1919 he served as chief clerk in the sendee departments depart-ments in Salt Lake City and Logan. Lo-gan. From 1919 to 1927 he was traveling auditor, and from 1927 to 1914 he was general auditor. In October of 1944 he became assistant as-sistant treasurer. Mr. Halliday was well known for his affiliations with Utah Masonic organizations. He was also a member mem-ber of the Sahara Club, Ambassador Ambassa-dor Club, and had held many offices of-fices including that of past state noble grand of the Independent Order Or-der of Odd Fellows. Vern L. Halliday was born Feb. 13, 1889 in Pleasant Grove, a son of Joseph W. and Louisa Halliday. He was educated in Pleasant Grove and Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah. He was married to Marguerite Snow Nov. 19, 1913, in Salt Lake City. She died in October, 1940. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Robert S. Halliday and Mrs. Byron (Ruth) Rampton, both of Bountiful; two brothers, Joseph Jo-seph W. Halliday, Salt Lake City and William L. Halliday, Pleasant Grove; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wadley, and Mrs. Prudence Coombs, both of Pleasant Grove, and Mrs. Glen (Vida) Adamson, Salt Lake City; also nine grandchildren. grand-children. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Masonic Temple, 630 East South Temple, with the Rev. George J. Weber officiating. Burial was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
