Show I Funeral Services j Are Held For Lawrence Allred Very impressive funeral rites were conducted Tuesday in the Lindon ward L D S Chapel for Lawrence Allred, 32, who died instantly in-stantly last Friday evening, following fol-lowing a train-tractor crash in this city. ' The services with Bishop Le-Grand Le-Grand Ercanbrack in charge, began be-gan at 12.30 p. m. Joseph Swenson of the Lindon ward bishopric offered the invocation. invoca-tion. Mrs. Clara Edwards and Mrs. Ella Smith, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Caldwell, sang a duet, "Beyond the Sunset." Sketch of the life of Lawrence Allred, was given by Mrs. Ella Gurney. The first speaker was Merrill Maxfield, a cousin, who spoke fel-lingly fel-lingly of the close relationship between be-tween his and the Allred families and of his work with Lawrence. The second speaker to express sympathy and appreciation for the family and paid tribute to the departed de-parted was Alory Gillman, former Bishop of Lindon; W. D. Chapman, President of the Lindon Town Board, told of his close association with Lawrence in the latter's position pos-ition as head of the Lindon Culinary Culi-nary water system. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers was a duet, "Whis- pering Hope," by Beulah and Reed Gillman, accmopanied by Mrs. Caldwell. After closing remarks of sympathy sym-pathy and appreciation by Bishop Ercanbrack, Lindon ward chorus, directed by Oliver Johnson sang the closing number, "Jesus I My Cross Have Taken." Benediction was pronounced by Rodney Walker ,a cousin. Prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Lorraine Ruffell. Prayer in the home was offered by Clarence C. Wright. Burial directed by Olpin Mortuary Mortu-ary was made in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, where Victor Vicklund offered the graveside prayer. Pallbearers ,all relatives and close friends were Merrill, Grant, and Holly Maxfield, Rodney Walker, Walk-er, Merlin Allred and Orvil Bird. Lawrence Allred was born in Lindon, August 9, 1918, to Clark and Jennie Kirk Allred. He attended at-tended the Lindon school and PI. Grove high school and was a veteran vet-eran of World War II. He served 21 months in the Aleutian Islands and. later in France and Germany. Upon returning home he worked atthe Lehi General Refractories, and at the Geneva Steel plant, and farmed at Lindon. Since July 31, following the death of his father, he has held the position of water works superintendent of Lindon. Survivors include his mother, 2 sisters Colleen Allred and Mrs. Genevieve Hanson of Lindon, one brother Kirk Allredvof Salt Lake City and his grandmother, Mrs. Edah Allred of Pleasant 'Grove. |
