Show Pioneer Resident Of Pleasant Grove Passes To Reward William West, 88, farmer and one of Pleasant Grove's oldest pioneer residents, died- at his home late Monday night, following a , three month's illness incident to age. He was born December 8, 1852, at St. Joseph, Missouri, a son of David and Amelia Hooley West. When he was one year old tile family came to Salt Lake City where they lived a short time before coming to Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. On June 26, 1879, he married Mary A. White in the Endowment House at Salt Lake City, the ceremony being be-ing performed by Daniel H. Wells. Mrs. West and five of their six children chil-dren survive him. They are: Mrs. Roxie W. Hawkes, -Salt Lake, Irving D. Thomas, and Loren, all of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove; Jesse N. of Farmington; 27 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, greatgrand-children, a sister, Mrs. Matilda Brown; two brothers, Nathaniel W. of Pleasant Grove, and Amasa West, Salt Lake. Mr. West was always a devoted worker in the L. D. S. church and was a High Priest at the time of his death. |
